The financial advantages of the cost of running a car on LPG or methane compared to petrol are considerable (on average, savings of 50-60% with LPG and 60-70% with methane for the same number of kilometres); this is essentially due to public incentives and reduced tax rates as well as to the lower cost of the raw material compared to oil. By now, running a car on LPG or methane is not only financially more advantageous compared to regular petrol but also compared to diesel.
The period of amortisation for the cost of installation rarely exceeds two years; in some cases the systems are subsidised.
